Fairy Tile – Once upon a Tell as board game

Fairy Tile will take you to fairyland. In the legend game by the authors Matthew Dunstan and Brett J. Gilbert from IELLO not with but against each other to tell a story. The first of the two to four players to finish his fairy tale book, which consists of different sections of a story in the form of tasks, wins. And they lived happily ever after. Or something like that… Of course there is more to it than just reading the text of cards. But what you will notice first is the great presentation of the game. And if there’s one thing IELLO can do, it’s make games that look pretty. Responsible for the excellent illustrations in this game is Miguel Coimbra, who among other things also breathed life into 7 Wonders and Smallworld.

Seikatsu – The spring begins

Seikatsu is an abstract tile laying game by the authors Matt Loomis and Isaac Shalev in which you compete with up to three other players to see who has the best view of the garden in the middle of the board. You take turns placing tiles in the garden, each showing one of four birds and one of four flowers. It is not only a beautiful game in terms of appearance, but its short playing time also makes it very suitable for in-between times. But how does it actually work?

Unlock Mystery Adventures – with App but without Scooby Doo

There can only be one solution and that is mine, of course. Even if the stupid app doesn’t accept it and is constantly taking a minute off our time. This must clearly be a mistake in the app, because I never make a mistake! Okay, let’s see what the app thinks, how should we solve this? So I’ll just take a hint. And… Wait a minute, why do I have to use the old corkscrew with the bottle? Well, there’s a message coming through. And when I use this one, it looks completely different. It changes the code! And suddenly the next room is unlocked. You could never have figured that out without a clue, who uses corkscrews nowadays?

You won’t need corkscrews in Unlock! Mystery Adventures but a lot of brain power.

Luxor – Board game treasure hunt in the Egyptian temple

Luxor is a classic racing game in which you want to reach the burial chamber at the end of the tile-filled path faster than your fellow players. A few tricks of the game mechanics await you as well. The whole treasure hunt lasts about 45 minutes and is suitable for two to four players aged 8 and up. The beautiful illustrations are from the pen of Dennis Lohausen.

Sentient – Play with me robot

Yes, there they are on the table, the revised plans for the latest service robot model. It is supposed to be able to serve a full five percent more customers per hour. But there is a problem with the basic operating system, according to our technicians, this robot cannot simply be integrated into our network. We have the choice of either putting the new model into the system with all our power or we leave it alone and hope for a new model that can be better integrated. These are the decisions you will have to make in Sentient in the distant future.

Lorenzo il Magnifico

So there I am sitting now, recalling the last game of Lorenzo il Magnifico. Full of joy we had borrowed the game. Good reviews had been the deciding factor. But the spark didn’t want to be ignited. How can that be? Had we perhaps overlooked a rule that was supposed to reduce the fun of the game. So I dig out the rules booklet again and read across quickly. Nothing found!

Quickly turned on Youtube and searched there for a rule video. 10 minutes later I know that we did nothing wrong. Lorenzo il Magnifico was simply not what we had imagined. Since I’m a gamer first and foremost and blogging is just a hobby, a game has to convince me as a player and not as a critic. What I found annoying about Lorenzo il Magnifico as a player, I would like to take up and process briefly in the following.
